At 3 pm on Monday, about 600 customers had taken a Slurpee drink ice-free in the last Pikesville 7-Eleven store.
Harpreet Property and Darminder Suri, the store located in the Village Green shopping center in the country participated in the company, free drinks promotion in honor of its 84th birthday, the date correctly set for July 11 (7.11).
During the 10 minutes when I visited the store, Alienade was the most popular flavor of light ice cream, beverages treatment called Slurpee. But Cherry was also a great demand.
The date and time-high was in the 90's, made the perfect day to promote cold.
Shari Rosen Upper Park Heights in Baltimore City chose a Coca-Cola Slurpee, your only option, he said, "because he knows the real thing. I do not like artificial fruit flavors."
Overall it was a good day for the new Pikesville 7-Eleven, one of four in the community.
At 3 pm, there were only 50 of 600 free Slurpee cups remaining store.
But the free offer not stop when the vessel is over.
Harpeet Suri said he was letting people come up with their cups for a recharge as many times as they want through midnight Tuesday, when the promotion ends.
Pikesville resident David Glick, the client has the honor of having bought the store first kosher hot dog chose Alienade Slurpee flavor and then bragged about the store offers kosher, he helped coordinate.
Once the Suris realized that customers wanted kosher, Glick client was presented to them the rules of kosher and helped them find a rabbi to certify some of their products.
The story of the transformation of the shop for kosher begins on opening day last month.
The Suris, did not set out to make the kosher shop. However, during the first two days in the business of many customers asked about kosher food, and the requests kept coming.
That's when they knew they had found their niche.
Now the word of their kosher food is spreading throughout the Jewish community.
"We have people coming from Washington DC just to come here and eat kosher hot dogs," he said.
He was referring to some residents of Pikesville friends who visited DC last month. The friends took them out for hot dogs at the store, and when the residents of DC went back into the area recently and went straight to the store, said Suri.
Hot dogs are not the only kosher food here. The breads are kosher hot dogs, and so are all the condiments. All ice cream is kosher, including the sticks. Tastykake products are kosher, and so are Twinkies.
"We (now) ordering all kosher," said Suri.
During the promotion of free Slurpee Monday, Pikesville resident Jonathan Lewin took a break from work to buy a good drink of cola in the cup of filling. "I have three children. I need the caffeine," he said. "And it is noon. I usually start to crash on the news."
Suri convinced him to get his own Slurpee as well, and he chose Alienade, a flavor described as a mixture of strawberry lemonade and a fruity flavor.
"It would be even better with a little rum in it," he joked.
