Dungeons & Dragons: Neverwinter announced earlier this week. Taking place 100 years after the events of Neverwinter Nights and Neverwinter Nights 2, the world has been restored after a catastrophic event. While the city of Neverwinter was saved, was the victim of a massive volcanic eruption. As Neverwinter begins, the city is being rebuilt through the combined efforts of humans, dwarves and elves.

During our meeting with Atari at E3, we have a run-through of Neverwinter, but do not talk much about the plot or game play, Neverwinter is designed as a co-op online action RPG centered. Instead, we have an in depth look at the cryptic casting, promising creation tool that comes with the game. The cast allows players to create dungeons, zones and missions, all with an impressive amount of customization. Everything is built through a multi-screen interface complete window that looks and feels like a tool for creating RPG theme that would emerge from Apple or Adobe.

The center of the screen is the main "stage" where players build their dungeons, pulling pieces of a library panel to the right. The construction of a prison is a matter of dragging and dropping room templates and object in this phase. As in D & D: Heroes of Neverwinter, a Facebook game that RPGFan reported on earlier, there are two ways to customize the look of the dungeon: the choice of presets or go further. In one case, showed us a room template from a crypt. By default this crypt was a room full of columns, huge spider webs, an altar, cross-platform of stone, and orange flaming torches in the room. With a few clicks, the room changed from gray to a dark blue color palette with different textures, Green Lantern, and instead of the cobwebs were large decorative metal structures. We were told that all individual items in the rooms could be set to hand as well, but being able to quickly choose from predefined aspect that empower players to design their creations to your liking. Connecting multiple rooms is a matter of placing them side by side, and aligning your tickets. Although only the inner sawean created in the last game players will be able to create interior and exterior areas.

Once the basic structure is created, it's time to fill the area with the enemies, NPCs, and objectives. As with the rooms, adding a meeting enemy is as simple as choosing an enemy of a library - which suggests big Cryptic thanks to the expansive tradition and history associated with Dungeons & Dragons. We have seen a list with dozens of options, and many more are added and after its release.

From the dungeons and monsters do not accomplish much without a mission or objective, the next step is to establish how the chain of missions. Players can make use of Cryptic created NPCs in the world of Neverwinter principal, or create your own. Even things that one would not expect to do with these interactive tools. An example they gave us was that if a player wanted to create a quest giver whose friend was transformed into a light pole, a light pole in the city can become a point of interactive search to match the story told . The appearance of the NPCs again threw a library and can be customized as needed. Text search character and dialogue is entered, and these missions may have multiple options and paths of dialogue, all displayed in a flowchart interface type. Cryptic especially wanted to make conversation options open because "Fans RPG things talkie", a feeling of us all in the room agreed.

At any point in the process of creation, players can switch from 2D overhead "build" mode "test" mode and run through their areas as they will appear in the game. For testing purposes, the "god mode" can be activated, so enlist the characters statistics so that the monster encounters are not detrimental to the test.

Neverwinter Foundry seems very granular control on the amount given (to the point where players can choose whether to open a door in or out), but easy to understand, at the same time. The developers want players of all levels would be able to create stories and experience they want with no tools on the road. If what we saw was an indication of the final product, which may well offer.

So far, neither cryptic nor have detailed Atari game model of payment or release date beyond "2011," but they said they should know better on both fronts, soon, possibly later this summer.
