Free agent WR Plaxico Burress met with New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin at the team's facility Friday as the team considers retaining the 33-year-old, according to the Associated Press.

Burress was a Giant from 2005-08 before serving a two-year prison term stemming from a 2008 incident in which he shot himself in the leg with a firearm in a nightclub.
He was released June 6.
Burress met with Coughlin for about 90 minutes, then spent 15 minutes with both Giants president John Mara and general manager Jerry Reese before leaving through a side door.
On the way out, he chatted with several players but was not made available to the media.
Mara said Thursday that the team was a "long ways" from resigning Burress, who was a member of the Giants' 2008 Super Bowl championship team.
The Giants, who have yet to sign free agents Kevin Boss, Amhad Bradshaw and Steve Smith, were without defensive end Osi Umenyiora, who is holding out for a better deal.
Umenyiora said during the lockout -- and swore in an affidavit -- that Reese did not fulfill a promise to renegotiate his contract, which has two years and $8 million remaining.
"I am not taking any question about Osi," Reese told reporters Friday. "He is not here. He knows training camp is open today, He is not here."
