A new character character has been cast in favor of "Game of Thrones" Season 2.
Author of books is based on the series - George RR Martin - revealed Thursday evening that Gwendoline Christie, British actress will play the role of Brienne, the lady Tarth.
Brienne joins the series in Season 2 as a knight rainbow Renly Baratheon Guard, his name for his own collection of knights, wearing rainbow-colored layers.
"This was another of those cases where there was almost no debate," Martin wrote in his blog about the choice of quality. "The day the first batch of auditions was for the paper, we look at a dozen actresses who read for an actress Brienne and Brienne.
"Gwendoline gave a great read, and his look was just perfect," he continued. "She came for ... well, like Brienne."
Gwendoline is 6 '3 "- an attribute that will help as he plays the character in the books is described as having a less feminine, but who can wield a sword and a man.
"My parents treated my height, like a wonderful thing to celebrate, but normal," the actress, who has appeared on stage in London, earlier told The Independent in the UK. "I love being tall because, literally, to see life from a different perspective: it is easier to breeze through the upheavals of life, there is more room to breathe."
The actress had a brief role in the last film Heath Ledger "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus."
Season 2 of "Game of Thrones" returns to HBO next year, but the series production begins this summer in Northern Ireland.
As previously reported in AccessHollywood. com, several cast members, including Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Daenerys Targaryen (Emily Clarke), and Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) will appear at Comic-Con this month in San Diego.
