Rodney King, victim of a beating caught on camera for the Police Department of Los Angeles in 1991, was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Tuesday.
Police shot de Moreno Valley King, 46, after observing more than commit several traffic violations, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Department Riverside County. That was booked for misdemeanor DUI and was released on $ 2,500 bail, according to his arrest report.
The King received $ 3.8 million in a civil case for his 1991 assault by police, which led to race riots in the city and left him with brain damage. He has long struggled with alcohol addiction and was arrested several times.
In 2008, he appeared on "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" on VH1 with actor Jeff Conaway. Conaway died in May after battling pneumonia and sepsis associated with the use of prescription drugs.
