In the coming years, Time Warner Cable is the construction of a new national data center and adding 225 new jobs as a renewal of its Charlotte campus companies worth more than $ 101 million.

"Time Warner Cable is proud to expand our corporate presence in North Carolina and bring these new jobs in Charlotte," says Carol Hevey, executive vice president of operations for the Eastern Region of Time Warner Cable. "With the addition of these positions, Time Warner Cable will employ nearly 2,800 in the Charlotte area and more than 6,400 employees across North Carolina."

The two-story, 178,000 square meters, national data center, which will be one of two nationwide to Time Warner Cable, 1600 includes racks of equipment and a floating floor of 12,000 feet to provide maximum cooling efficiency.

Time Warner Cable said the building, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year would have a virtual cloud environment, allowing rapid deployment of the main products of the company's video services, data, voice and a commercial storage and network elements in a shared environment, click here.

The data center also reflects a commitment by Time Warner Cable for migration to Internet Protocol technology. The nation's second largest cable operator said the latest IP technology is in the building to give Time Warner Cable, the flexibility to deliver any content to any device, anywhere at any time.

The building was also strategically designed to double the size of equipment to accommodate future growth.

"The National Data Center allows Time Warner Cable to focus on the provision of services to customers more efficiently and reliably and with less cost and environmental impact," said Jim Ludington, executive vice president of national network operations and engineering , Time Warner Cable. "The opening of a data center in Charlotte underscores our commitment to offer the best combination of technology to serve our customers."

Time Warner Cable is also building a four-story, 103.500 square feet, with an estimated completion date of 2013, as part of the project.

Under a grant agreement with the state of North Carolina, all the 225 new employees will be hired by 2014, and include accounting, finance, engineering, IT and human resource professionals.

According to an article published in News & Observer, Time Warner Cable is getting about $ 3 million in incentives from the state, provided it complies with its investment objectives and recruitment. The city of Charlotte is also kicking in $ 2 million in incentives.

The state grant requires that Time Warner Cable keep 1113 jobs in Charlotte, including its work force and jobs that was necessary to add less than two prior grants.

According to the News & Observer, the new jobs pay an average annual salary of $ 61,044, while the average salary of Mecklenburg County is $ 51,584.
