Williams just scored his second goal of the season when he threw a shot over a defensive wall on a restart free kick. The ball came out of the left glove of goalkeeper Kevin Hartman Dallas and ran through the baseline to give Salt Lake a 1-0 lead.

"It's always important to get the first goal - especially at home," said Williams. "They were sitting behind the whole game and looking for a counterattack. I think we did a good job during the first half in eliminating their chances in the future."

The goal brought to life in Dallas the offensive and began to press the attack in the second half wore on. Salt Lake made some defensive works very well to keep the lead. Chris Wingert came up with a spectacular stop in the 85th minute when he blocked a shot off the line of Jackson just as it seemed the Dallas midfielder could play a goalkeeper Nick Rimando with out of position.

Salt Lake, Tony Beltran said that his team had possession of the ball most of the time as one of the reasons for its ability to increase defense.

"They were defending a lot of the game, so I'm not sure how they are feeling," Beltran said. "I know personally if I am defending for long periods of time is very tiring. Is more tiresome to have the ball."

Espindola sealed the win when he sent a shot past Hartman in the final minute of added time and buried it in the right corner of the net.

The result was exactly what needed to Salt Lake to keep pace with teams like Dallas and Los Angeles Galaxy in the race for the Supporters Shield 'awarded to the MLS team with the best regular season record.

"We said before the game that this was a very important game for us," said Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis. "Probably the largest we have had this season against what I think is definitely the team that is in the best shape right now. A positive. I do not care about the outcome. To get three points against them was very important to us. "

Neither offense could break into the first half. Salt Lake frequently attacked, but only intermittently scoring opportunities created.

The best chance of getting on the scoreboard came in the 18th minute when Alvaro Saborio located a bounce pass from Kyle Beckerman. Saborio took a piece of the ball with his head in the rebound at the far post. His touch was good, but just hooked the ball away from the pole.

FC Dallas had a chance in the 40th minute when Jackson struck a shot from 40 meters that Rimando had to stop over the crossbar.
