Breastfeeding in public and whether mothers should be involved in it has always been a heated debate. Now an incident in Michigan is leading the discussion of breastfeeding and again.
As reported by the Detroit Free Press, the mother, 32-year-old Moon was Afrykayn nursing her two-week-old son of an intelligent bus when the bus driver ordered to hide or get off the bus. Moon argues that the baby was in an envelope of football and not much was being exposed. He also refused to leave the bus until his son had finished breastfeeding. As a result, security officers boarded the bus mall at the next stop and began to question the moon.
Under state law on breastfeeding, the Moon can not be accused of public indecency. A law that apparently the bus driver was unaware of. SMART officials have said they will remind drivers that breastfeeding is allowed on buses.
Moon took action and organized an event of breast feeding was carried out in SMART bus locations in Troy and Taylor, Michigan. She is also a member of the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers Black "and is working to raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding.
As reported by the Associated Press, "Breastfed babies have fewer illnesses such as diarrhea, ear aches, and pneumonia, because breast milk contains antibodies that help prevent infection. They are also less likely to develop asthma, or even to become fat childhood. Mothers who breastfeed lose pregnancy weight faster, and if the breast long enough can reduce their risk of breast or ovarian cancer. "
