While Fox shows the MLB All-Star Game (tonight, 8 ET / PT), ESPN counters with a repeat run of the night lights based on the sport Friday (8 ET / PT) - the wonderful NBC / DirecTV series on a Texas high school football team.
But you do not have to be interested in football to appreciate this magnificent spectacle, which is one of the best television performances ever from the realities of life in a small fight, sports crazy town.
Enlightenment was never less than a good show - but never as good in later seasons as it was in the first. If you've never seen it, do yourself a favor and pick up right now.
• In 1962 David Lean's masterpiece Lawrence of Arabia (TCM, 8 ET / 5 PT) began running on television, the standard critical response was that there was no TV could do justice to this visually stunning film - which had to be seen on the big screen.

Obviously, it remains the best way to see, but thanks to technology advances in HDTV, home seeing now is an acceptable alternative for many people.
In any screen, the acting is excellent (Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif star), and the film is very exciting (although the story is perhaps a bit unstable).
