A young girl from East Texas is working to make a difference in your community, your family and all who have an autistic disorder. This high level Lindale is putting on a fundraising event in honor of saving his little sister, who suffers from Asperger syndrome.
Aspergers disease is a form of autism characterized by difficulties in social interaction.
But with a smile and personality Addison Stone, the interaction is not a problem.
"It's hard to say what the effects of autism because it is a big umbrella, and in fact has Asperger syndrome, which is one of the most high functioning autism," says the mother of Addison, Stone Sher.
Ally, Addison's older sister, feels a special connection with her sister and disorder.
Ally says, "I think it kind of served to become a kinder person, and go out and do not make fun of people and be kind to everyone and not judge, and the like."
His passion inspired his unit, which is making a difference.
"I was thinking of Addison and she really is not serious or anything and since there are so many kids out there who has a severe case Addy and I just wanted to help somehow, and just do something, anything I can, "says Ally.
Addison said: "My sister is raising some money for children with Asperger Syndrome, like me, me, and all children who have Asperger syndrome there."
Allied is planning an event called Asperger's Burgers. It will include a 5K run, a live band, bounce houses, and of course, hamburgers!
"I'm so proud of her, and I'm excited because I know if she is doing this sort of thing at seventeen, I can not wait to see the things we do when she is a little older," says Sher.
The event will be July 23 - from 0400, if you want to run the 5K. The event will be at the center of Lindale Church of Christ, and the 5k will be on the track of the Lindale High School.
You can also register for the 5K race in Pinkie Pies Boutique in the center of Lindale,
